Innovision Research & Technology sponsors the 1st European NFC Competition "Touching the Future"
Innovision Research & Technology supports goal to promote innovation and excellence in NFC services
Monday 12th February, 2007
Innovision Research & Technology Plc, a leading NFC IC design and solutions developer, has thrown its weight behind the first ever European NFC competition. Called ‘Touching the Future', the competition was launched last week by the NFC Forum in partnership with the SmartTouch project, to help promote innovation and excellence in NFC service implementations throughout Europe.
As a gold sponsor, Innovision R&T will be involved in judging the 16 finalists at the NFC Developer's Summit at this year's WIMA event in Monaco in April. Addressing this year's theme of ‘the simplicity of touch', entrants will focus on innovation, commercial potential and usability, as well as the design and implementation of NFC technology.
David Wollen, CEO of Innovision R&T, explains: "This is the first time that the industry has recognised those involved in the innovation and design behind NFC services and applications. It's an exciting time for NFC developers, with nearly a billion NFC tags already deployed worldwide and the technology opening up new markets on a global scale aimed at both consumers and businesses. We are delighted to be involved in the competition and anticipate a high number of good quality entries."
The European NFC competition is divided into two tracks:
- Track A - for NFC services already implemented in Europe, either as full deployments or pilots
- Track B - for proposals for future services.
Submissions to Track A will be evaluated on demonstrated process and service improvements and cost savings; and those in Track B will be judged on creativity, innovation, and business potential. Companies and academic teams are being encouraged to enter their ideas.
Entry forms and competition details are available from: www.nfc-competition.com . The extended deadline for submitting a preliminary proposal to Track B is 19 February, whilst the deadline for final submission to both tracks is 12 March.
British AIM-listed firm, Innovision R&T, has one of the fastest growing dedicated NFC engineering design teams in the industry; with detailed knowledge and experience of designing and developing NFC solutions. Topaz by Innovision R&T, mandated by the NFC Forum last year as the number one NFC tag type format is expected to be the tag of choice for most competition entrants.
