Innovision’s Topaz becomes official NFC tag for WIMA 2010
...the global NFC business and technical developers summit
Monday 12th April, 2010
Cirencester, UK; 12th April 2010 - Innovision Research & Technology's (www.innovision-group.com) industry-leading Topaz NFC tags will play a central role at WIMA 2010 - the 4th Global NFC Business & Technical Developers Summit - which brings together industry leaders, NFC developers, standards bodies and research and academic institutions. Innovision is also an official sponsor of the event, which takes place on 20-22 April at the Grimaldi Forum, Monaco.
This year, Topaz tags will be integral to the overall WIMA experience, which includes a range of interactive smart posters around the WIMA venue. In addition, Topaz tag sample kits will be provided to entrants of the NFC Forum Global Competition (http://www.nfc-forum.org), which runs in conjunction with WIMA and is designed to encourage creative and innovative developments in NFC technology.
"It's interesting to see how far NFC has come since we provided our tags to the very first NFC Competition winners back in 2007," said Innovision's VP Marketing, Stephen Graham. "Understanding of NFC technology has evolved and the Competition has quickly evolved with it, to the extent that the entries are becoming increasingly advanced, wide-ranging and relevant in all aspects of life."
In previous years, the NFC Forum Global Competition has generated a raft of innovative and exciting entries incorporating Topaz tags, like the Seeingeyephone developed by VTT Technical Research Center of Finland and aimed at the visually impaired. This year is no exception, with submissions including mobile couponing, healthcare, building access and security, retail merchandising, online user authentication, nutrition management, gaming, online banking and support for the disabled.
Innovision is also presenting at this year's WIMA event, as well as demonstrating NFC smart posters and peer to peer connectivity using Topaz on its exhibition stand. The three presentation slots include:
- Stephen Graham, VP Marketing of the company, presenting a keynote in the Business Track on Weds 21 April, addressing ‘New Applications for New Business and Use Cases', alongside speakers from NXP Semiconductors, Over-C and Sony Corporation.
- Ian Keen, Systems & Applications Manager presenting on ‘NFC Application Development' in the Technical Track on Weds 21 April.
- Julia Charnock, Marketing Communications Manager for Innovision and the NFC Forum presenting ‘The N-Mark' in the NFC Forum Track on Thurs 22 April.
